I always thought that Army is a place where everyone work together and take blame for one another. Often sergeants will steal your rifle and you will have to commit your weekend to do guard duty as a form of punishment. Something's are just unexpected. Shall share this incident with you.

One of platoon mate was awarded a guard duty as he lost his rifle previously. Many people would just commit their weekend to do the guard duty. But this time the guard duty was scheduled on a sunday which means the guard duty personnel have to book into camp by Saturday 6pm. XXX reported to the medical officer that he cough blood and was then awarded a status of attend B which he is then excused from his duties. His buddy had to cover for him. The buddy cancelled all his plans and had to book in to stand in for his place. Well everyone thought its was alright to cover for a buddy when he fall sick even if it means burning your own weekend. That what's buddy is for. Unfortunately the buddy fell ill and the whole section is called up searching for a replacement. Everyone panicked. Within short noticed, someone covered for him to do his duty, his punishment.

Well everything was pretty alright until...

His friend came to his in camp to had a small chat with him which we overheard. It goes something like this.... "Hey! Didn't you have to do guard duty?" his friend asked. "I was sick and someone replaced me" he replied. "But someone saw you at Timbre in the weekend and you were pretty alright". We were all in shock when we heard this. Because we believed that he fell ill and couldn't do guard duty. Disappointed, realize that he skipped guard duty and went out for a gathering. A gathering that he didn't want to miss when someone is taking his place in camp burning his weekend. That someone burnt his weekend, cancelled all his plans, just to stand in for his when all along he is at Timbre enjoying himself.

After being told that it's not the right thing to do, he remain in his proud attitude, "report me if you want, I'm not afraid" he replied. Shocked. Couldn't believe what I heard. Totally speechless.

People like this do exist. Disappointed. Expected the unexpected.
